This was a community event in Northwest Arkansas that invited you to create art that you can wear. Everyone and all skill levels are welcome to don their creations and celebrate an evening of fun in the name of fashion and art. It was held Saturday February 10th, 2024 at Millar Lodge on Mt. Sequoyah in Fayetteville, AR
WowZa 2024, put a call out that anyone can enter their Wearable art for a $500 prize! This brought out 12 contestants that competed pageant styled, hosted by local celebrity, Faux L’ Beau. They were judged on overall creativity, showmanship and personality by our 3 judges and audience participation.
We were thrilled that this year's event brought in double amount of guests expected. We are looking for a bigger space for 2025. This was just a dress rehearsal and plan to go bigger and better for the next!
Included in this event, there were living art installations showcased such as the Sharpie Queen. aka Natalie Bell. She walked around the room in her white gown offering anyone a sharpie to draw on her dress. This has evolved into WowZas yearbook!
WowZa 2024, we had Donna Mulhollan display her “Dotty in the Head” installation. She sat in her makeshift front porch with decorated mannequins, sculptures with dotted fabrics and played the saw for those passing or stopping by.
Mark Wetzel, a creative genius and parader, brought his entire closet for people to try on and to capture a photo.
Zeek Taylor brought one of his famous paintings “Blue Iris”, printed out the background and wore a giant Blue Iris Hat.
Our friend, living legend and Drag Super Star, Ginger Styles performed her last 2 numbers after hanging up her heels. This brought in a lot of emotion and was a beautiful send off. We were honored to host her last performance.
Another highlight of the evening was Tracy Johnson's Cuckoo Bird Clock. She created the bird house out of carboard and made the cuckoo bird itself out of carboard and feathers. Modeled by Dea Self. Every 15 minutes, the bird would go off, helping us keep track of time.
